2020 Mediation and Mediation Skills Training Course for Students

With the aim of disseminating knowledge about mediation in Vietnam through training, coaching, and teaching activities, Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC) organized a Training Course on mediation and mediation skills for students in 2020.

The experts participating in the training course are Mediator Nguyen Minh Hang, Mediator Tran Thi Huong, Mediator Nguyen Tuan Phat, Mediator Anil Changaroth, Mediator Nguyen Ngoc Duy My, and Lawyer Pham Quoc Tuan. Not only giving useful and practical lectures on principles, methods, negotiation, and mediation skills, the experts also actively participated in commenting and giving suggestions for students in the practice sessions.

During 5 training sessions on mediation, the students were trained by experts who are mediators and experienced lawyers to share a lot of knowledge and skills in mediation such as taking notes, questioning skills, and encouraging information exchange…

In each mediation training session, students are given the role of a mediator or a lawyer to participate in the mediation session based on hypothetical situations in both Vietnamese and English. In particular, students had the opportunity to listen to the experience of participating in the international mediation contest from two teams of the 2019 IMSG competition of Foreign Trade University and the Faculty of Law – Hanoi National University.

The 2020 training course has attracted the participation of nearly 60 students from many universities across the country such as the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Faculty of Law – Hanoi National University, and National Economics University, …

In addition to the teams participating in two international mediation competitions, International Mediation Singapore (IMSG) and ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition, the training course on mediation and mediation skills also welcomed many passionate students with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods in general and mediation in particular, want to learn about mediation and try their hand at mediation.
