“Mediation process – hypothetical commercial mediation session” on May 15, 2023

The event “Mediation process – hypothetical commercial mediation session” on the afternoon of May 15, 2023, was jointly organized by VMED Club under VICMC with the Faculty of Law – Foreign Trade University and Faculty of Law – Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance. The concurrent event was on the two universities’ campuses.

The students participating in the event had the opportunity to discuss and improve their skills in commercial mediation through the experience of a hypothetical commercial mediation session. With the motto “Theory must go hand in hand with practice.” the students acted directly at the event “Mediation process – hypothetical commercial mediation session” with guidance from VMED and special guests. The guests participating in the event “Mediation process – hypothetical commercial mediation session” in Hanoi city include:

  • Dr. Ha Cong Anh Bao, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Foreign Trade University (FTU), Mediator of Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC).
  • Lawyer Tran Thi Thanh Huyen, Accredited Mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), Mediator of Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC).
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hang, Senior Lecturer at Foreign Trade University (FTU), General Secretary of Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC).

The guests participating in the event “Mediation process – hypothetical commercial mediation session” in Ho Chi Minh City include:

  • Lawyer Nguyen Anh Tuan, Arbitrator of the Vietnam Commercial and Financial Arbitration Center, Co-Founder of Vietnam Competition Network Forum (VNCN), and Accredited Mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).
  • Dr. Le Hung Long, Lecturer at Faculty of Law, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Secretary General of Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC).
  • Lawyer Nguyen Tuan Phat, Accredited Mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), Head of the Energy and Infrastructure Working Group of the Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC).

With extensive experience in the field of mediation, the speakers shared much valuable knowledge about the mediation process, the skills of lawyers in mediation, and passionate suggestions for participants. The case of internal corporate disputes developed by VICMC’s Mediators has brought a variety of emotions and suspenseful situations to the mediation sessions.

The event “Mediation process – hypothetical commercial mediation session” is one of the regular activities of the VMED Club supported by VICMC. VICMC hopes these activities will help commercial mediation reach more students, law practitioners, and the business community.
