The code of conduct or code of ethics for mediators has important meaning for mediation activity. The code guides mediators to tasks, acts to be done or to avoid in mediation. The code helps parties of the dispute know the conditions and requirements of the mediator.

Both legal regulations on commercial mediation of Vietnam and the Singapore Convention on Mediation have regulations requiring mediators to meet the requirements from the code of conduct or the code of ethics in mediation. In commercial mediation, many commercial mediation centers in Vietnam and in the world have developed and applied their codes of conduct.

Based on the requirements from the conduct of mediators under the Singapore Convention, Vietnam should issue and give guidance on the code of conduct soon to have common conditions for commercial mediation and to make favorable conditions for enforcement of the Singapore Convention after joining.
