SUMMARY OF TRAINING COURSE ON NEGOTIATION AND MEDIATION SKILLS FOR COMMERCIAL DISPUTES IN APRIL 2025

From April 14 to April 23, 2025, Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC) organized an online training course on negotiation and mediation skills for commercial disputes for registered participants.

The VICMC training course is designed to combine in-depth theoretical content, discussion and role-playing practice with the participation of a team of experts and professional mediators:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hang – General Secretary of VICMC, Senior Lecturer, Foreign Trade University, CEDR Certified Mediator;
  • Mediator Nguyen Thi Mai – VICMC Mediator, Former Deputy Director of the Department of Judicial Support, Ministry of Justice;
  • Mediator Tran Thi Huong – Deputy Head of VICMC External Affairs Department, CEDR Certified Mediator;
  • Lawyer Phung Quang Cuong – VICMC Mediator, Member Lawyer, NHQuang&Associates Law Office, CEDR Certified Mediator;
  • Lawyer Nguyen Tuan Phat – Head of the Energy and Infrastructure Working Group of VICMC, CEDR Certified Mediator;
  • Lawyer Le Trong Them – VICMC Mediator, Managing Partner of LTT&Lawyers;
  • Lawyer Nguyen Ngoc Lam – VICMC Mediator, Founding and Managing Partner of Thelamlaw.

The training course focused on practicing, training in methods, principles of commercial negotiation and mediation, along with situations of disputes over contracts for the sale of goods, intellectual property, M&A, etc. Accordingly, each participant plays the role of a mediator, lawyer or a disputing party in specific cases.

For each practice session, VICMC experts observed and gave comments and suggestions to each participant and shared practical experiences. Through the survey, participants have gradually improved their skills related to negotiation and mediation such as creative proposal skills, breaking deadlocks, and drafting mediation agreements in a practical and effective way.

At the end of the training course, VICMC representatives awarded certificates of completion to participants who met VICMC’s assessment criteria.
